The Pattern contains

Base cloak , Optional sholder cloak , Extra Oversized hood ( on some patterns)

​A large number of different cloaks can be achieved with only a few pattern pieces. From early roman, medieval, renaissance, victorian, and current. The basic cloak still uses the same basic parts that it used 1500 years ago.

All the cloaks above use the same four parts and most only have four seams. They can be stacked to create a layered look and even lined to produce contrast. .

With right sides together, pin FRONT and BACK together. Using a straight stitc,h sew seam 1 and 2. If you’re using fabric that will fray or unravel, stitch all seams a second time using a zigzag stitch..
With right sides together, pin the hood pieces together. Using a straight stitch, sew seam 3. Gather along seam 4 on hood
With right sides together, align center BACK with the bottom back of HOOD where seam 3 ends. Pin seam 4 hood to seam 4 cloak. Stitch from center of the back to the front on each side. (Starting in the middle of the seam and sewing to the edge on hoods and collars helps to keep the ends even.) Hem all the way around the cloak and hood with one hem.

For a lined cloak, repeat all of the above a 2nd time with your lining fabric. Pin the two cloaks right sides together. Stitch around the outer edge, leaving a small opening to turn the cloak right side out through. After turning the cloak right sides out through this opening, sew up the opening by hand.
